BLM approves Newmont mine expansion

The US Bureau of Land Management has issued a record of decision approving plans by Newmont Mining to expand its Genesis-Bluestar operations on the Carlin Trend in Nevada.

Newmont’s Genesis project will involve expanding the existing Genesis open pit and developing a new pit, Bluestar Ridge, backfilling the Bluestar and Beast pits, and then partially backfilling the Genesis pit as mining progresses.

Canada Lithium gets permit for blighted Quebec project

Canada Lithium Corp (CLQ), which earlier this month cut resources at its Quebec project by about one-third after discovering errors in the model, said on Monday the La Corne Municipality had awarded the company permits to build surface infrastructure at its flagship project.

The company also said it would finish a 50-hole drilling programme, which it started this month, in June.
